Thought Round-up

1. You know your nursing home is in Wisconsin when cheese soup base and Sauerkraut are measured by the case.

2. Perhaps it is not that the elderly lack so much energy compaired to younger people they just don't consume as much caffine.

3. The people who are still freaking out about the fact that I am getting married need to mellow out. They thought it was cool when I challenged expectations by entering a male dominated field, when I was more interested in my education than marriage or children and any number of other things. When I fail to fit THEIR simple definition of who I am they are horrified and vindictive. Bite me.

4. Few people are satisfied just wasting their time. They want to waste yours too.

5. I agree totally.

6. My skin has the same attitude problem the rest of me does. It will be fine for months then suddenly go crazy. One big oil slick. I use a mild astringant once to try to tame it and suddenly it is overly dry. Just like me. Any critisism when I KNOW I have been misbehaving and *BAM!* reversal of behavior to the opposite, undesireable extreme.

7. Vending Machine snacks are a bad idea.

8. It is unreasonable to expect that you will always like a person you love, but just because they are unlikable for a moment does not make them unlovable.

9. Fruit2O and the like are the greatest beverages ever invented.

So I read About Last Night from Mr. Krupa and I suddenly had this strange twisty sick feeling in my stomach.

I don't know what caused it. It could have been sympathy for the woman in the apartment below them, empathy for Ona (since I know what it is like to have to pee and know that there may be a mad-man lurking in the neighborhood.), maybe it was a little loneliness since it seems like forever since I have had the option of nudging Lee awake because I was scared, or maybe it was just the vending machine meat stick I had for an afternoon snack.

Mother nature is kicking our collective ass, why? Because she can. Bitch.

So, Wilma is beating on Florida and Alpha has arrived. Alpha makes history as the first time EVER we had to move on to the Greek Alphabet for the naming of Hurricanes and Tropical storms. I will grant you that the current naming practice has not been around for very long, the practice of alternating between male and female names started in 1978 as part of women's lib (from 1941-1951 and 1953-1978 only women's names were used, from 1951-1953 the phonetic alphabet was used, previous to that they were named for the Saint Day on which they made landfall) but still this has been a busy year for hurricanes.

The fires and earthquakes of California and the hurricanes in the east make me think ... When the Big One hits and California falls into the ocean and the entire eastern seaboard is scrubbed away by tropical storms and hurricanes ... they can all eat my safe, dry, "Fly-over-country" ass. Buwahahaha
