Time to start re-reading

So, I have finished my first reading of Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. All I have to say is OMFG Can you believe that *********** is the Half-blood Prince and *********** dies?!?

I had to say it ... but you don't have to read it. I just hope that someone out there has also finished it so I can talk about it ... no one I know of has yet :(

I know you well enough Mr.Gugg.

I can't believe Harry's choice about the rest of his education!!!!

I can't believe he did that to Ginny--rather, I can't believe she put up with it.

And I don't know what to think about Snape--Rowling's going out of her way to keep him ambiguous.

In more detail...

I don't quite get how Harry is supposed to do the job Dumbledore left to him, much less defeat Voldemort. He's good at dueling, but not that good--and even if V- can't bear to possess him, etc, Avada Kedavra will still kill him (I assume). I had expected his training to be stepped up significantly in HBP, and it really didn't seem to be. Not to mention, as you say, his decision to forego the rest of his education rather makes it difficult for him to get much better at dueling, or Occlumency, or nonverbal magic, or anything, all of which I would think he'd need to whup on the bad guys. ;)

Mainly, though, I'm annoyed that I have to wait for the next book. :)

First, I don't think that Ginny is just going to take it ... I think she will be back ... I agree with you that Harry still isn't ready to take on V. I mean ... he needs to get it through his THICK head that the unique power he has that allows him to defeat V is that he has Ginny, Ron, Hermiony, and the rest of the Weasleys ... people who love him and whom he loves.

The other day I was in the coffee shop and I was the only patron there who wasn't reading Harry.

Let me tell you ... it was rough. We had the MDA ride coming through so the only people not reading HP&THBP on the 16th were bikers. I tried to read over peoples' shoulders.
