Hurricane KAT and my own self-centeredness

Today the idea that New Orleans might not be rebuilt suddenly hit me hard today. It was on my mind all day. I wasn't thinking about all the people who lost their homes, nor even directly about all the national history lost. All I was thinking about was the fact that New Orleans is/was one of about maybe one 1/2 dozen cities left in the world that I wanted to see before I die that I haven't seen yet ... and now I might never get the chance ... because I may have passed up every opportunity to see the city. Even if I see it now (after it is rebuilt) it wont be the same. I guess KAT put me in mind now of all the opportunities lost forever.
